International Womens Day Shoalhaven Lunch
Our Shoalhaven team were delighted to welcome the Albatross Command Team on International Women’s Day who wanted to reach out to women in the local community whose lives have been impacted by domestic violence. They planned a meal to share with both residents and staff of the refuges, including a beautiful selection of mains and desserts. And as an extra special treat, the ladies left cupcakes so that children who couldn’t attend the lunch would have a treat when they returned from school.
6 March 2020 – Celebrating International Womens Day
As only the second female to lead a team to Davis Station in Antarctica, Rachael Robertson managed a diverse group of up to 120 people, through total isolation, months of darkness, with no way in and no way out. It was a ’leadership laboratory’ in the most extreme and hostile environment on Earth, where most of the theory doesn’t apply. Rachael shared her ‘extreme’ leadership experience in Antarctica, leaving us inspired, challenged and motivated for the next step in life and career.
14 March 2020 – Art Bar Kiama
Our friends at the Art Bar Kiama hosted and organised another wonderful evening of beautiful art. We had a wonderful evening celebrating the work from from three young female emerging artists: SilvesterArt, Madelyn Nichols & Jessie Elise.
All Art Bar proceeds and a percentage of the artists sale price is being donated to this great community organisation.
Thanks again Art Bar Kiama, your continued support for SAHSSI is appreciated!
27 March 2020 – Horizon Credit Union Donation
It was unfortunate that the Horizon Movie Night Fundraiser was cancelled, however, that didn’t stop the Horizon bank staff continue to fundraise for our clients.
We were thrilled to receive a cheque for over $1000.00, as well as new Kettles, Toasters, Sandwich makers and other homewares. The money will be spent on food for our clients, who always appreciate they support from the community.
We would also like to acknowledge Marie’s mother who handmade the beautiful easter bunnies and teddy bears. Our young clients staying in our crisis accommodation will be very happy and excited, they are so beautifully made!
Even though we had to stay 1.5m away from each other, the teddys and easter bunnies in the photo were exempt from this rule, so we gave them the chairs so they can sit together!
Thank you Horizon Bank and to all who donated to SAHSSI. We look forward to a movie night, hopefully next year.
