We are so grateful with the success of our Road to Home workshops that SAHSSI coordinates and facilitates bimonthly in partnership with DCJ – Housing NSW, Illawarra and South Coast Tenants Service and other specialist homelessness services.These workshops have been designed, coordinated and facilitated by our frontline case manager, Jasmine, for nearly two years. Thank you to Jasmine for her ongoing compassion and motivation to support the local community with her extensive knowledge and client-centric approaches.

Referrals come from all homelessness agencies and Housing NSW and the workshop spans over two days with participants receiving a pre-approval bond loan upon successful completion. The content of delivery provides informative information including useful and local hints and tips about securing and sustaining not just a tenancy, a home. As Jasmine is also a frontline homelessness case manager, Jasmine draws upon real life examples to educate participants. We are also very fortunate to have Illawarra and South Coast Tenants Advice delivering key legislative information during day two of the agenda.

With all that said, our exciting news is that we have also now been fortunate enough to secure funding worth $7,296 from the following Clubs so that we can keep the workshops going for another year. Big shout out to the following Clubs that have recognised this workshop as important to the Illawarra community;

  • Berkeley Sports Club
  • Dapto Leagues Club
  • Collegians RLFC

Thank you also to the ongoing support of DCJ – Housing NSW, who have funded the workshops over the previous two years and are ensuring we are supported with venue arrangements into the future.

We have included photos of September 2019 day 2 turnout. What awesome engagement and interest from the community and a testament to the delivery of the program!
