SAHSSI was a key organiser of the Shoalhaven Homelessness Interagency’s Shoalhaven Homelessness Services Tour on Friday, 9th August 2019.

The Tour included; Minister for Family and Community Services, Gareth Ward MP, 4 Shoalhaven City Councillors plus the General Manager and other key senior Council staff, Manager of Commonwealth Bank (Nowra), three ladies from Zonta Berry, the Captain of HMAS Albatross, Fiona Sneath accompanied by two other senior members of the base, Gary Fuss (Command Warrant Officer) and Captain Grant O’Loughlin (of the Fleet Air Arm).

A coach toured each of the homelessness service accommodation sites and finished with drinks and nibbles at the Council.

This was a great opportunity to share the work that SAHSSI does and to give key stakeholders and influencers a first hand look at some of the crisis accommodation available in Nowra.  The event also involved a media call on the week prior to the event. This was hosted by SAHSSI at our refuge and a partnership with Legal Aid.  Media attendance was WIN television, ABC Illawarra and South Coast Register.  All media promoted homelessness and the event and SAHSSI was able to maximise these opportunities.
